Raphaël Reed is a music composer and sound artist based in Montreal. Trained in classical guitar from an early age and a graduate from the University of Montreal in Music Composition and Contemporary Creation, his style is an innovative hybrid integrating analog synth, classical instruments and electro-acoustic gestures.
In film and television, Raphael’s experience extends from drama to action to comedy, which has demanded a versatile approach to his work. His compositions include the soundtrack of the blockbuster Crisis (2021) from Director Nicholas Jarecki, starring Gary Oldman and Evangeline Lilly. Cliff Martinez being an advisor for the creation of the soundtrack, this experience has been a milestone in Raphael's career and a consolidation of his music personality. His other music scores include, amongst others, Sam (2021) The Walrus and the WhistleBlower (2020), Louise Lecavalier: In Motion (2018), Révolution-TVA (2018), and 1:54 (2016).
In largescale events, he co-composed the opening soundtrack for the 2014 UEFA Champions League final held in Portugal. He also directed and composed the Chimelong International Circus in China (2017) as well as the Cité de l’énergie in Shawinigan, Quebec (2018), and music for The Carnaval de Québec (2019). For Cité mémoire, he composed the music for two events celebrating John Lennon's bed-in at The Queen Elizabeth Hotel in Montreal: a virtual reality interactive exhibition taking place in the bedroom (suite 1742) and a video playing in the Agora of the hotel directed by Michel Lemieux and Michel Marc Bouchard.
His music has been heard in hundreds of advertisements, most notably the Skechers ad presented at the Super Bowl (2012) and the international publicity campaign for Dove Legacy (2015).
